CRACK99: The Takedown of a $100 Million Chinese...

The utterly gripping story of the most outrageous case of cyber piracy prosecuted by the US Department of Justice. A former US Navy intelligence officer, David Locke Hall was a federal prosecutor when a bizarre-sounding website, CRACK99, came to his attention. It looked like Craigslist on acid, but what it sold was anything but amateurish: thousands of high-tech software products used largely by the military, and for mere pennies on the dollar. Want to purchase satellite tracking software? No problem. Aerospace and aviation simulations? No problem. Communications systems designs? No problem. Software for Marine One, the presidential helicopter? No problem. With delivery times and customer service to rival the world's most successful online retailers, anybody, anywhere - including rogue regimes, terrorists, and countries forbidden from doing business with the United States - had access to these goods for any purpose whatsoever. But who was behind CRACK99, and where were they? The Justice Department discouraged potentially costly, risky cases like this, preferring the low-hanging fruit that scored points from politicians and the public. But Hall and his colleagues were determined to find the culprit. They bought CRACK99's products for delivery in the United States, buying more and more to appeal to the budding entrepreneur in the man they identified as Xiang Li. After winning his confidence, they lured him to Saipan - a US commonwealth territory where Hall's own father had stormed the beaches with the marines during World War II. There, they set up an audacious sting that culminated in Xiang Li's capture and imprisonment. The value of the goods offered by CRACK99? A cool $100 million. An eye-opening look at cybercrime and its chilling consequences for national security, CRACK99 is like a caper that resonates with every amazing detail. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Mark Peckham. Uav Pilot Logbook 2nd Edition

The UAV Pilot Logbook 2nd Edition permits you to log your personal flight data in an easy-to-use, easy-to-carry format. This new edition expands significantly upon the earlier UAV Pilot Logbook (1st edition) by providing you with the opportunity to record more types of data for each flight, resulting in a truly comprehensive record of your UAV flying experience. For those who wish to create an aircraft-specific record of use and condition we continue to recommend our companion volume, the UAV Aircraft Logbook, also available through Amazon. In the UAV Pilot Logbook 2nd Edition you can record flight time for rotary, fixed-wing and lighter-than-air (LTA) UAV operations so that even if you fly a variety of aircraft types you will be able to log all of your data in the same book. The book is 192 pages long. On the inside you will find: • A section to record aircraft and equipment data, to include identification information for up to 12 different aircraft as well as places to record batteries and additional equipment (cameras, etc) data. • A main flight data section that permits you to record the registrations of the different aircraft in use for each of your flights and their types, the flight locations and times, flight durations, flight functions, numbers of landings and distances flown. New to the second edition, you can also record batteries or fuel use, inspections and calibrations accomplished, technical problems found and corrective actions performed, and an enlarged place for Remarks and Endorsements. This section provides easy-to-use instructions about how to fill out the log, with example pages included. • A final section in which you can log all of your training courses taken and exams passed, as well as places for instructors to sign these off, as required. The size is convenient for carrying, either in your backpack or in any small case you may be using. You are therefore able to record your flight data on the spot, something not so easily done when using the other, large-format, paperback logbooks. Additionally, this book avoids the wasted space found in other drone logbooks that, for example, unnecessarily ask you to draw flight plans. Finally, using a physical, bound logbook is superior to using an electronic version because you do not require an internet connection to record your data in the field and the data are not subject to loss by accidental deletion. Electronic logbooks are often considerably more expensive, as well. The physical log is, in fact, the official aviation standard due to the difficulty of falsifying entries after they have been made. The hardcover version is durable and will stand up to years of use both at home and in the fieldBottom line: using the UAV Pilot Logbook 2nd Edition makes it easy to demonstrate that you are an experienced and properly trained UAV pilot who takes a professional approach to your flying operations. This new model of human interaction has been chosen by Google to train the entire company worldwide (30,000 employees), is the #1 book for your career chosen by The Wall Street Journal's website, and is labeled 'phenomenal' by Lawyers' Weekly and 'brilliant' by Liza Oz of the Oprah network. Based on more than 20 years of research and practice among 30,000 people in 45 countries, Getting More concludes that finding and valuing the other party's emotions and perceptions creates far more value than the conventional wisdom of power and logic. It is intended to provide better agreements for everyone no matter what they negotiate - from jobs to kids to billion dollar deals to shopping. The book, a New York Times bestseller and #1 Wall Street Journal business best seller, is based on Professor Stuart Diamond's award-winning course at the Wharton Business School, where the course has been the most popular over 13 years. It challenges the conventional wisdom on every page, from 'win-win' to BATNA to rationality to the use of power. Companies have made billions of dollars so far using his new model and parents have gotten their 4-year-olds to willingly brush their teeth and go to bed. Prof. Diamond draws from his experience as a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist at The New York Times, Harvard-trained attorney, Wharton MBA, U.N. Consultant in many countries and manager and executive in many sectors, including technology, agriculture, medical services, finance, energy and aviation. 'The ROI from reading Getting More will make it the best investment you make this year,' says Rhys Dekle, the business development head of the Microsoft Games division, which produces X-Box. He added that the book was his team's best investment of the year too. The model was also used to quickly solve the 2008 Hollywood Writer's Strike. The advice is addressed through the insightful stories of more than 400 people who have used Prof. Diamond's tools with great success: A 20% savings on an item already on sale. An extra $300 million profit in a business. A woman from India getting out of her own arranged marriage. Better relationships with the family, including teenagers. Raises at work. Better jobs. Dealing with emotional situations. Meeting one's goals. Finding better things to trade. Solving cultural and political problems, sports conflicts, and ordinary arguments. The book is intended to be used in any situation. The most common response is 'life changing', beginning on page one. 'The most inspirational book I have read this year' said David Simon, an attorney in San Francisco, CA. 'This book can change the world,' says Craig Silverman, Investment Advisor, Long Island, NY

The South African Air Force (SAAF), formed on 1 February 1920, is the second oldest air force in the Commonwealth. The air arm played a major role in securing victory for the Allies during the Second World War, in the 1948/49 Berlin Airlift, and in Korea in the 1950s. The SAAF assisted Rhodesia in the 1960s and '70s, made a major contribution to the 'Border' or 'Bush' war in South West Africa and Angola, participated in the transition to a new democracy in South Africa and continuously supports South African peace missions in Africa. It has also assisted in countless relief and rescue missions in southern Africa throughout this entire period. However, the SAAF is not just about aircraft and ordnance; it is made up of people and it is in this compilation that these people, airmen and ground crew alike, find their voice. These are their stories, all told in the first person by the actual participants as unvarnished, unabbreviated and intensely immediate and personal recollections. Through their stories of heroism, duty, adventure and tragedy, the reader will follow the history of the SAAF from 1939 to the present day. To complement the stories, the final chapter includes a collection of squadron pub songs from the Second World War, Korea and the Border War.An accountant by profession, Dean Wingrin has had an interest in aviation since childhood, collecting articles and taking photos at airports and air shows whenever he could. His photographs and articles are regularly published in local and international journals and aviation magazines. He also acts as a consultant to various print, radio, TV and internet journalists and investigative programmes. He served his national service in the South African Air Force and was Honorary Secretary and Treasurer of the Cape Town branch of the Friends of the SAAF Museum for almost 20 years. He is founder and webmaster of the popular unofficial SAAF website (saairforce.co.za), a site he set up in 1996 as a result of his interest in the SAAF. The website provides a detailed background on the SAAF and its current activities and is viewed as the premier website on the air force. Dean is also a director of the South African Aviation Foundation Museum Ltd, a non-profit company formed to preserve the SAAF's aviation heritage through, inter alia, physical and financial assistance to the SAAF Museum at Air Force Base Ysterplaat in Cape Town.
